Solar Tax Credit: Time is Running Out! Act Now!

I think I first heard about y’all on NPR with your NPR advertisements, but then when we really started to dive in and look at different solar companies to work with, I have this go-to Facebook group that I go to for recommendations for all sorts of things in life. Better Tomorrow came up again and again as a recommendation. And then after reaching out to y’all, I think the thing that really sold me was just how long you’ve been around and knowing that there have been a lot of changes to the solar industry over the last few decades and that y’all have stuck with it throughout all of that.

And also knowing that you didn’t subcontract any of your work, that everything that you did was with employees and house and just knowing that you were taking full accountability for the work that you were doing. Another reason when we were in conversations with your employees and trying to figure out what the plan that we wanted, how many panels we wanted to do, what the layout was, just felt like it was a really positive back and forth conversation and that the end goal for Better Tomorrow wasn’t just to put as many panels as possible on our roof and to make as much money as possible, but really to figure out what’s the best return on investment, what’s really the best system for our house in particular. So yeah, we felt really great about the decision at the end of the day and have been really pleased with the process working with y’all.

The team was out here for I think two half days during the installation and then I came back a couple weeks later to put on the squirrel guards that we decided to get because we have some pesky squirrels in our neighborhood. So it was easy. When we first decided we wanted solar, we didn’t know if it was going to be like this week-long process and there were going to be people at our house for a long time, but it was it was really quite simple.

And I think working with the Better Tomorrow team throughout the process, especially like the navigating how to all the Georgia Power paperwork and all of that was super simple. And I think that was something I was a little daunted by at first, but the team made it super easy and they’re basically shooting an email when I needed to fill out a form and basically just walked me through the process step by step. So it was it was a really easy process.

Going with the battery was definitely a bit more of a financial investment, but it was a real priority for us both because we wanted to be able to use some of the solar energy that we captured during the daytime hours in the evening and at the nighttime, but also just having that extra layer of security that if the power goes out, knowing that we’ll be able to have access to energy was really comforting. So we have our batteries set, so it always keeps 20% filled with storage. So at any point, if the power goes out, we’ve got some battery storage to get us through until Georgia Power gets us back online.

I think one of the most exciting ways that it’s changed our life is being able to talk to our two young boys about our solar panels and explain to them that, you know, the sun has all of this power and that we’re able to capture that power and use it to supply our house with energy. We’ve also started to be more thoughtful about when we’re using some of our highest energy appliances, so trying to do that during peak hours in the middle of the day when there’s lots of solar energy being produced instead of at night. And then we’ve also already started to see like decreases in our power bill, which is great.

So our first month, our bill was something like a third less or a third of the total cost of the previous month. So a pretty significant reduction already, which is great.
